Linda Maria Aguirre-Slater (in picture with younger sister Christina on her left and mother Julita seated on her right) grew up with 9 other siblings in San Narciso, Zambales, where her parents owned and ran the local high school, Zambales Academy (formerly Zambales Colleges –Ramon Magsaysay was one of its illustrious students). In February 1971, 20½-year-old Linda went to England to work and continue her nurse’s training, the latter she already started at Philippine Women's University. After she married in 1975, nursing gave way to full-time motherhood and bringing up her 2 children Alastair and Emma.

Prior to moving to Dorset, from the 80s until the late 90s, Linda was very active in the community. She was president of the Hampshire-Philippines Association for a time and helped organize the Barrio Fiestas in London & Bournemouth. She was also an officer & active member of The UK Filipino Women's Association. She helped organise the 1st ever Philippine National Council of Representatives (PNCR) Assembly in London in 1995 & was very active in the implementation of its objectives. In 1996, in recognition of her contributions to the Filipino community, Linda became the first Mrs. Philippines-UK in a competition organized by the Aguman Kapampangan in London.

In 2000 Linda started her own remittance company, LMS, in the UK. Prior to that she had gained banking and remittance experience by working for PNB in their City office, as well as experience working for Far East Bank in their Earl's Court office.

Linda is also founder and director of Swift Cash UK Ltd.
