Linda Maria Aguirre-Slater grew up with 9 other siblings in San Narciso, Zambales, where her parents owned and ran the local high school, Zambales Academy (formerly Zambales Colleges –Ramon Magsaysay was one of its illustrious students). In February 1971, 20½-year-old Linda went to England to work and continue her nurse’s training, the latter she already started at Philippine Women's University. After she married in 1975, nursing gave way to full-time motherhood and bringing up her 2 children Alastair and Emma.
